[Spend Less] Give Presence
Here are some ideas on how:
Buy only on sale - This is the season of heavy discounts so take advantage of it. And don't forget deals & Coupons on the internet.
Homemade Gifts - Make and give items such as baked goods, knit or sewing projects, photo gifts, woodworking, painting, beads, or gifts utilizing other skills. Craft stores can provide lots of ideas.
Coupons - make custom coupons that can be redeemed for fun treats, trips, help on projects, errands, free passes on chores or other kindnesses like massages or babysitting.
Name Swap - If you have a big family, consider drawing names so each person just buys for one other.
Recycle & Steal - A very "green" approach to Christmas that's sure to provide fun and laughs. Recycle a gift or other trinket for your home and wrap it. Everyone else does the same. All gifts are placed on a table and then numbers are drawn to see what order people will open gifts. #1 selects a gift and opens it in front of the group. #2 can pick a wrapped gift from the table or steal #1's gift. The cycle continues until everyone has received a present. The number of times a gift is stolen can be limited to keep the process moving.
New Traditions - Take on a service project to benefit others in need. Volunteer as a family or group. There are many worthy charities and community organizations that could use your help and it will be a bonding experience for the group.
